Archaeometry and Restoration Department
Has the institutional task of providing for the restoration, maintenance and conservation of the structures and artifacts of the Park, whether they are in the Museum, in deposits or in situ. These activities take place both in emergency situations and in ordinary operations of conservation as well as on the occasion of various cultural, institutional or study initiatives (such as: temporary exhibitions in Italy and/or abroad; conferences or seminars, etc.).
The lab acts on limited sized mobile finds (ceramics, glass, metals, stone finds, detached paintings, stuccos, artifacts made out of organic materials, etc.) and on in-situ decorated surfaces (frescoes, stuccos, mosaic and marbles).
